The old vineyard of Quintada da Pellada is our greatest genetic heritage, where a large ampelographic collection has been planted, representing the varieties always present in the vineyards of the Dão Demarcated Region. We have identified, reproduced and vinified some of these indigenous varieties, sometimes productive, have lost expression in the region and in the country. In order to recognise and to interpret their value, this work of recovery has given rise to the release of some wines. Wines Which are produced on a small quantity , after a carefully selection throughout the Quinta da Pellada Vineyard, from the healthiest plants of each variety. From this diversity we have highlighted three fields that gave rise to:
Quinta da Pelada "Alto"

Quinta da Pelada "49"
Without changing anything to the Quinta da Pellada wine, which mantains its normal blend, in which these parcels have a great expression , we decided to bottle separately a small part of these interpretative studies of the specificity os each of these micro-terroirs, to show them.
Grape Varieties: From the intermediate region to all our properties - "49". The block of more heterogenous soils, always of granite base but here with lines of sand and clay. despite the existence of other varieties, we harvested and co-fermented for this blend only the varieties Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional.
Winemaking: The grapes were vinified respecting all the its nature. Spontaneous fermentation, obviously with indigenous yeasts, it took place in a stainless steel mill. This was followed by a 24-month stage in three oak casks, 400L, for second/third use. Direct gravity bottling.
Tasting Notes: Intense garnet color. Aromas of bergamot, orange peel and wildflowers. In the mouth, spices, cocoa and vanilla. Expressive, elegant and with generous tannins. Very gastronomic.
Vinification: Aged in old French oak barrels for 28 months.
