Alvarinho from a Monção vineyard planted about 250 meters away, fermented in used barrels and aged in the same barrels for 9 months followed by another 9 months of aging in bottle. I believe my interpretation of Alvarinho by Monção Melgaço is present in this small production. Dry, sharp acidity, aromatically contained, more focused on minerality. Light, assertive and direct. A wine that is to be drunk!
Varieties: Alvarinho
Tasting Notes: Nose with an initial floral attack reminiscent of wild flowers along with hints of wax aroma. Deep minerality reminiscent of wet rolled pebble. On the palate, a vibrant acidity stands out, transmitting freshness, harmonious and with a deep balance.
Serving Suggestions: Very versatile due to its vibrant acidity, it can accompany elegant and smooth foods such as sushi, as well as more complex and fatty dishes such as roasted kid, minhota codfish or fried shad. It should be drunk between 10-12ºC.
Vinification: Grapes harvested manually in small boxes, with a large selection right at the vineyard, only bunches being harvested in perfect conditions of maturation and health. Total destemming. Fermentation in used French oak barrels. Aged for 9 months in barrel. Aged for 9 months in the bottle.
