Filipa Pato Nossa Tola Branco 2022

The "Tola", 100% Bical, comes from a vineyard situated on a very mild slope and with an excellent southern exposure, the soil is deep, with limestone from the lower Jurassic. Some of the Bical vineyards are over 60 years old. In a certain period of history, this vineyard was considered a heritage treasure for its incomparable quality. The name “Tola” is a tribute to a Lady, former owner of the vineyard in the early 19th century, considered crazy for her extremely eccentric character.

Grape Varieties: Bical

Tasting Notes: "Tola" is a precise wine and reveals the typical limestone character of Bairrada. It has a bright pale yellow color. On the nose, the wine opens deeply, intense and elegant aromas emerge: floral notes of white flowers, peach blossom, pear, honey, grilled almonds, sometimes even exotic woods. On the palate, the texture is silky and dominated by a harmony of contours that never transmit any weight. The aftertaste is exceptionally persistent with smoky hints and enhances the fineness of the whole with a persistent acidity. This is a mineral wine suitable for refined cuisine.

Vinification: The harvest is done by hand in small boxes to preserve the integrity of the Bical. The grapes are then gently pressed to respect the fruit. Only indigenous yeasts are used. The must is pressed directly into our traditional barrels to be fermented. The maturation lasts about 12 months in fine lees without batonnage and the blend is made in a tank for another 4 months. Throughout the aging process, our absolute priority is given to the true expression of the terroir and character of the harvest. It did not undergo any sticking or filtration.
