Vista Alegre 50 Year Old Tawny is the result of wise and careful aging in oak barrels, combined with the art and magic of the "blend".
Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca e Tinto Cão.
Tasting Notes: Color: Deep amber, with olive green undertones. Aroma: Very exuberant on the nose and extremely complex, it feels like an explosion of aromas that intertwine, making it a mysterious wine. The aromas of roasted dried fruits, coffee and molasses stand out, with light notes of tobacco leaves and fine spices. Palate: It is impressive for the complexity that is felt right at the entrance, characteristic of its already long age. The perfect harmony between freshness and the most intense flavors such as notes of wood toast, coffee and caramel. It is a wine with a memorable finish.
Vinification: Vinification according to the traditional Port Wine method. After gentle crushing with partial destemming, alcoholic fermentation follows with pellicular maceration. Fermentation takes place under controlled temperature and is stopped by the addition of wine brandy. The entire winemaking process, which is monitored by the oenology team, takes into account the grape varieties, their degree of maturation and the desired sweetness.
Ageing: This very special batch is the result of a combination of carefully selected old tawny port wines, aged in very old barrels, in our cellars, in the heart of the Douro Demarcated Region, whose average age of aging is over 50 years.
Storage: Bottle upright at a constant temperature and protected from intense light. After its opening consume, preferably, between 22 to 26 weeks.
Consumption: It should be consumed at a temperature between 10ºC and 12ºC. It can be combined with foie-gras as well as rich and intense cheeses or served on its own with coffee or chocolates. Excellent in desserts made with chocolate, nuts and caramel. Great companion, after coffee, for a good cigar. Port wine, being a natural wine, is susceptible, over time, to create deposits. It must be served carefully so as not to cloud it.
