The name Grafite acknowledges our winemakers’ artistic signature in these hand-crafted wines. Grafite white is a complex and delicate Douro wine, combining distinctive mineral notes with hints of graphite and fresh lemons on the nose. This wine is juicy and elegant on the palate, with a long and crisp finish.
Grape Varieties: Rabigato and Viosinho.
Tasting Notes: Bright yellow golden colour with delicate mineral and biscuit aromas. Tight and vibrant on the palate with juicy acidity and a long finish.
Winemaking: The grapes are picked into small boxes of approx. 20 kilos and brought to the winery where they undergo a careful selection process before being crushed. The grapes were chilled overnight to 5ºC and then crushed and allowed to cold-soak in tank for 12 hours at 10ºC. 100% of the must was then pressed and the juice was transferred to another tank where it was inoculated and allowed to ferment gently during two weeks at a maximum temperature of 15ºC.
Ageing: About 20% of this wine is aged for 6 months in new casks; the remaining part is kept in stainless steel vats to maintain its fruity character combined with the oak complexity from the wines in casks. It is ready to drink now.
Serving Temperature: Serve chilled (10º-12ºC).
Winemakers: John Graham and Ricardo Pinto Nunes.
