Tapada de Coelheiros Vinha do Alto Branco 2018

The Alto Vineyard is located in the center of Tapada de Coelheiros, on a gentle slope, surrounded by a walnut orchard, a meadow, and a grove of stone pines, which inspired the label of this wine. The soils have a granitic origin, they are deep and rich in clay. Therefore, this is where the largest concentration of white grape varieties, particularly the Arinto grape, is found, giving rise to this wine. The organic matter content is moderate (1.5%). In recent years, there has been significant effort to improve soil cover by sowing legumes in the rows to enhance the natural fixation of nitrogen, promoting the natural cycle of this element. The training system is bilateral Guyot, fostering good fertility in this grape variety and optimizing the skin-to-pulp ratio. This results in wines with a pronounced aromatic definition and verticality in the mouth. In organic farming since 2019.

Grape Varieties: Arinto

Tasting Notes: Straw yellow color with golden highlights. Aromatically, it presents an enveloping complexity dominated by ripe citrus notes such as lime and grapefruit, complemented by nuances of peach and a subtle hint of gunflint. On the palate, it stands out for its vibrancy, driven by the characteristic acidity of the Arinto grape. It possesses a silky texture and an elegant body, harmonizing acidity with fruit in a balanced manner.

Vinification: The grapes were meticulously handpicked and whole-cluster pressed, with the aim of minimizing the formation of solids. This was followed by static settling, which lasted for 24 hours. After this period, the must was then transferred to used 500-liter French oak barrels, where fermentation and maturation took place over 12 months. Subsequently, the wine was left to age in the bottle for an additional four years, aiming to enhance the distinctive qualities of the Arinto grape, ideal for aged white wines.
