The Year: Winter was characterized by heavy rainfall. During spring, temperatures were almost always low, which delayed the development of the plant. The summer was dry and hot, with light rain at the end of September. These conditions allowed the plant to mature well, giving rise to very elegant wines.
Grape Varieties: Careful selection of white grapes from the Douro Demarcated Region, namely: Viosinho, Malvasia Fina, Gouveio, Arinto, Cercial and Rabigato.
Tasting Notes: Bright color and excellent golden color. Very complex aroma, highlighting the notes of dried fruits, such as hazelnuts and almonds, combined with aromas of dried peach and prunes and notes of candied fruit. There are still some fine notes of toast from aging in old wooden barrels. Very elegant palate, good balance between its vibrant acidity and its natural sweetness. It also reveals a flavor that goes from honey, candied fruit and quite evident toasted dried fruits. Its freshness can be felt throughout the tasting and it finishes velvety and persistent.
Viticulture: Coming from the Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo sub-regions, these vines are planted in old vines and terraces with different exposures and altitudes.
Vinification: Grapes, from a single year, are harvested manually into small transport boxes and vinified according to the traditional method of Port Wine. After partial destemming, the grapes are slightly crushed into stainless steel tanks. The fermentation of the must takes place under controlled temperature and is interrupted by the addition of brandy. It is a wine with great aging potential.
Ageing: Wine from a single harvest, aged in oak casks for a minimum period of 7 years. The year of bottling is indicated on the back label.
Consumption: Pleasant accompaniment with dry fruits: almonds, raisins, peaches and apricots. It also accompanies sweet desserts, with eggs or tarts with dried fruit, coffee and vanilla. However, it is a wine that can perfectly be drunk on its own, chilled or at the end of a meal. As Port Wine is a natural product, it is likely to create deposits.
Conservation: Bottle upright at a constant temperature and protected from light. After opening, consume preferably between 1 and 4 months.
