This wine represents the entry of the Alves de Sousa family into the very restricted batch of Vine Vintage Ports. A century-old vineyard that extends along an extraordinary natural amphitheater and the uniqueness of 2020, a year with absolutely unique conditions, revealing why Port Wine is the ultimate creation and masterpiece of the Douro.
Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Malvasia Preta, Tinta Amarela, others (30 autochthonous varieties co-planted)
Vine age: 120 years
Tasting Notes: Completely opaque. An explosion of aromas! Wild fruits, aromatic herbs, plum, licorice, eucalyptus leaf, graphite... extremely complex. The level of concentration is impressive! It hits every taste bud but with a disarming smoothness. An absolutely extraordinary wine that could last for over 100 years.
Pairings: Cheeses, dark chocolate, red fruit desserts.
Temperature and Service Conditions: 14ºC. Open 1 hour before serving.
Vinification: Very slow fermentation with indigenous yeasts at low temperature (17ºC to preserve the most delicate varietal aromas) in a “micro-lagar” with a custom-made treading program; Interruption of fermentation with wine brandy at 77º V/V neutral exactly halfway through to achieve the best balance between natural sweetness, alcohol, its structure and all its elements, preserving an enormous purity of fruit.
Ageing: 2 years in deposit.
Storage Time: More than 100 years.
