This wine is born at an altitude of 500 meters, on the right bank of the Dão, in soils with blue granite bedrock. It is a wine from a single plot of Encruzado with a very distinct profile, with a blue granite massif underneath and a layer of clay on top.
The 2022 Harvest: The climatic year is characterized as dry and hot in general. The high temperature ranges of the region and the clay in the soils allowed us to preserve a lot of freshness and acidity in these grapes, which were harvested and selected manually in mid-September.
Grape Varieties: Encruzado 100%
Climate: Cold, windy and humid autumn and winter. Mild spring and dry, hot summer.
Soil: Blue granite, with clay.
Tasting Notes: Elegant nose and complex with granitic mineral dominance. Notes of apple, brioche, citrus, thyme, and spices. Mouth of great creaminess and elegance, with structure and long finish.
Other Notes: Has the potential to age in the bottle. Store the bottles lying down in a cool place. Consume at a temperature of 12°C.
Vinification: Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in 1000l concrete eggs, without the addition of yeast.
Ageing: 10 months in total lees in the eggs where it fermented. Bottling in July 2023 and aging in bottles since then.
Winemaker: Nuno Mira do Ó
