A wine to demonstrate the invaluable heritage of old vineyards of the Upper Douro.
Grape Varieties: Grapes of Ancient Vines, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz and Sousão
Vineyard altitude: 180 to 600m
Soil: Shale and Schist/Granite
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red color. The aroma stands out for some exuberance of very ripe fruit and notes of fruit compote, fresh hay, wet earth, vanilla and spices. In the mouth, it surprises with its strength, velvety texture and aromatic richness, in an attractive and modern set.
Vinification: The technology is minimalist, using granite presses with mechanical treading. After fermentation, after about a week of tanning, the wine was transferred to stainless steel vats, where the suspended solids settled. After malolactic fermentation, it was transferred to oak barrels, where it aged for about six months. Bottling was carried out after light fining and filtration. It was naturally stabilized by the cold.
Ageing Ability: Ready to drink, although it has conditions to improve and polish the tannins a little during a few years in the cellar.
How to Serve: Serve at 16°C, decanting is recommended. Given its characteristics, it is suitable for special meals, where grilled black pork, Mirandesa steak and oven dishes can shine.
