Luís Duarte Vinhos is a family business managed by winemaker Luís Duarte. It has its headquarters on the Monte do Carrapatelo property, located in the wine-growing sub-region of Reguengos de Monsaraz, in Alentejo, south of Portugal. With 17 hectares of vineyards, the property enjoys a continental Mediterranean climate, characterized by very hot and dry summers but with a notable daily temperature range, which encourages the retention of acids in the grapes, as well as the development of aromas. Winters are cold and harsh and it is during this season of the year that most of the rain occurs. The soils are predominantly loamy, guaranteeing good water retention, which is essential for the vines during the summer months. All viticulture is governed by regenerative viticulture practices, with cultural interventions carefully adapted to each grape variety and each plot.
