The practice of organic production at Quinta da Serradinha dates back to 1978, when António Marques da Cruz's father discovered it at a fair in Montpellier. Several years later, in 1994, when organic production began to be regulated in Portugal, the Quinta obtained organic certification for its wines. Currently, António Marques da Cruz, the fifth generation of the family, has the mission to continue the legacy of the Marques da Cruz family with regard to the production of organic wine. There are 5 hectares of vines, some planted in 1957, in clay-limestone soil on south-facing slopes.
