Quinta de Ventozelo Syrah Unoaked Tinto 2022

At Quinta de Ventozelo, every grape variety has a history. Syrah is all about surprise – revealing an unexpected personality for a variety that is not indigenous to the Douro region. To enhance its fruity and wild exuberance, we bottled it the very next year after harvesting. The result is this young Syrah Unoaked, a force of nature with plenty to say.

Grape Varieties: Syrah

Tasting Notes: This Syrah reveals surprising purity, with the typical aromatic descriptors of this variety very marked. Special emphasis on expressive fruit, in particular, currants and blackberries. This reappears on the palate, combined with hints of pepper. Extremely round, shows good acidity, finishing long and balanced.

Vinification: After careful selection of Syrah grapes, vinification was carried out in lagares, after cold pre-fermentation maceration. This wine is bottled the year following its production, promoting the exuberance and strength of youth in its profile.

Gastronomy: Pairs very well with grilled meat dishes. Best consumed at a temperature of 16º–18ºC.
