Rosa da Mata Alfrocheiro Tinto 2021

Wine produced from exclusive grapes of the Alfrocheiro variety, a vineyard located in the sub-region of Besteiros, an area of the Dão region marked by high temperature variations and relative humidity, important for the phenolic maturation of this variety in the mornings preceding the harvest. Here the elegance of Dão is the most striking character of this wine.

Tasting Note: The Rosa da Mata presents an open ruby color, a reflection of this variety that is not very dyeing, on the nose there is the floral, the aroma of flowering and the smell of the woods in autumn, moss and pine needles, it also has a touch of grape that recalls the harvest and wild fruits. In the mouth it is not a simple wine, it has the rusticity that is educated with elegance, it is confusing, but at the same time interesting, with a perfect acidity, it can accompany strong meat dishes and also fatty fish, it also goes with itself, just for the pleasure it gives in being drunk, or even with snacks in the summer, drunk at lower temperatures (16ºC). Deep down, it has a somewhat bipolar personality, of opposites that come together in a perfect and long finish.

Vinification: The grapes are harvested manually in 20Kg boxes, and the Alfrocheiro is harvested at dawn, so that the grape remains intact and free of oxidation, without tearing the skin until it is crushed in the cellar. These grapes are fermented in a lagar, without temperature control or mechanical treatments, the pumping over during tanning is done by wooden jacks, in order to go back to the past, thus maintaining the varietal character of the Variety.
