The Year: A year with an average annual temperature of 22.9ºC and a rainfall of 31.6mm. Both lower than previous years. The month of July was warmer than the month of August, which meant that the maturation was slow and balanced.
Grape Varieties: With 23 different varieties recognized in our old vineyards, some of the most representative varieties are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão.
Tasting Notes: Color: Tawny, with red-orange nuances. Aroma: Balanced, delicate, elegant due to its aging in oak casks, exuding a wide variety of aromas of: caramel, vanilla, honey and nuts. Palate: Velvety, delicate, sweet and with a long finish.
Viticulture: Coming from the Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo sub-regions, these vines are planted in old vines and terraces with different exposures and altitudes.
Vinification: Grapes, from a single harvest, are manually harvested into small transport boxes and vinified in accordance with the traditional method of Port Wine. After partial destemming, the grapes are crushed in stone presses with foot treading. The must fermentation takes place under controlled temperature and is interrupted by the addition of brandy. This wine, as it is produced, has great aging potential.
Ageing: Wine from a single harvest, aged in oak casks for a minimum period of 7 years. The bottling year is indicated on the back label.
Consumption: Pleasant accompaniment with dried fruits: almonds, raisins, peaches and apricots. It also accompanies sweet desserts, with eggs or dried fruit tarts, coffee and vanilla. However, it is a wine that can perfectly be drunk alone, cooler or at the end of a meal. As Port Wine is a natural product, it is likely to create a deposit.
Conservation: Bottle standing at a constant temperature and protected from light. After opening, consume, preferably, between 1 to 4 months.
