A red from Melgaço? We'd say it was right on target. Made from branches, around 90 years old, located in Melgaço. It is not necessarily a “verde tinto”, but a red made in the Vinho Verde Region.
Sub-region: Monção and Melgaço
Grape Varieties: Bastardo, Alvarelhão, Cainho Red among others.
Soil: granite origin
Vinification: After manual harvesting and transport to the cellar in small boxes (18kg-20kg), the bunches were destemmed and the grapes underwent maceration for 24 hours. As soon as spontaneous fermentation started, it was pressed and finished fermenting in used barrels. Malolactic fermentation was also carried out in barrels with total lees. Not glued, not filtered or stabilized.
Ageing: 8 months in used barrels.
Tasting Notes: An elegant wine right from the light color, delicate with some fresh fruit in the aroma and tense in the mouth, with a long finish.
Harmonization and longevity: Salads, fatty fish, white and grilled meats, at a temperature of 14ºC. It can be consumed immediately or over the next 10 years, as long as it is stored lying down in a cool, dry place, away from light and without temperature fluctuations.
Winemaker: Márcio Lopes
