Primado SB is a new red wine that complements the Primado selection and appears in dedication to the young successors of the family, Sofia and Benedita. Also young, this red is vibrant, daring and challenging. Created with a differentiating spirit of the first-born Primado Tinto, it is a wine without contact with wood and with short ageing.
Soil and Climate: The sandy granitic soil, the climate marked by the Estrela, Caramulo and Lousã mountain ranges, which surround this place and the influence of the proximity to the reservoir of the Aguieira dam create exceptional climatic and geological conditions. The humidity caused by the morning mists provides slower and more balanced maturation.
Grape Varieties: Tinta Roriz
Tasting Note: Clear, bright, with a beautiful violet color, characteristic of Tinta Roriz. The exuberance on the nose reveals itself in a lot of fresh fruit and a soft aromatic bouquet of garden flowers to finish. In the mouth, its youth and freshness are evident, accompanied by a great elegance. The red fruit and plum that stand out, the tannins that remain and an unparalleled freshness form a combination that demands food.
Vinification: In a mill with foot treading, the alcoholic fermentation takes place through the tanning of the solid parts, so that the macerations are smooth, allowing a slow and prolonged extraction of the phenolic components of the grape. This entire process is carried out at a controlled temperature of 22ºC, during the entire vinification process. After extracting the full potential of structure, color and aromas, a gentle pressing follows. After this process, the wine remains in a vat where it undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Ageing: The wine aged 6 months in stainless steel vats and 6 months in bottle.
Gastronomy: Excellent to pair with starters or snacks, fatty fish, meats, sausages, mushrooms, pasta and cheeses. Service temperature 16ºC.
Ageing Ability: 5 to 8 years after harvest.
Winemaker: Patrícia Santos
