Quinta da Devesa Vintage 2018

Quinta da Devesa Vintage Port is an exceptional wine, produced from carefully selected grapes of the best plots, exclusively from the estate. Vinified traditionally in granite lagares, the ageing process occurred in oak vats before bottling, between the second and third year. It’s a distinct Vintage, with powerful aromas. Sweet and light on the opening. A knockout nose of ripe raspberry and strawberry, a gentle whiff of spirit, fresh wildflowers, chewy with plum, grenadine, tar and later some tart blackcurrant flavors. The mid-palate coming closer to balancing the pure power. The tannins have very nice grip, which anticipate an ageing in bottle of superb quality. It may throw some deposit and should be decanted before drinking.

Grape Varieties: 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca, 10% Tinta Roriz, 20% Vinhas Velhas.

Tasting Notes: Deep purple color Powerful aromas of ripe red fruits, floral cocoa, pepper, cassis and iodine. On the palate it’s dense, velvety and full bodied, with high quality ripe tannins, a well balanced acidity, which offers balance, harmony and elegance, that anticipate an ageing in bottle of superb quality. The finish is long, sweet, refreshing and gourmand.

Vinification: The grapes from our Quinta are harvested by hand in small containers and taken to the lagares to be trodden by foot. Vinified traditionally in granite lagares a wine with excellent extract is produced. Aged in old wooden vats until bottled in the second year after the harvest. Quinta da Devesa vineyards are managed using sustainable agricultural practices in accordance with the Sustainable Agriculture Integrated Production guidelines, certified by an independent organization, recognized by the Portuguese State.

Temperature: Decant and serve between 14ºC 16ºC.
