This Ruby is unique, as it is produced exclusively from grapes planted in category A vineyards (all Quinta de la Rosa vineyards have this classification); normally used for the production of LBV and Vintage. Rare case, most Ruby grapes have grades B to D and therefore tend to be less concentrated. Many of our customers told us that our Ruby was too good to be called Ruby. So, we decided to name it with the lot number we used to make it: “Lot 601”.

Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz. Grapes from Quinta de la Rosa, in which the vines have the maximum classification: letter A.

Tasting Notes: It is rich, with a vibrant color, great depth, full-bodied and fruity. It has a long aftertaste. Following the profile of Quinta de la Rosa wines, it is not too sweet.

Winemaking: Quinta de la Rosa's Port wines follow the traditional style: fermented with foot treading in granite vats and aged in very old wooden vats and barrels (550 liter oak casks). As with the Douro DOCs of this Douro house, we seek the harmony and balance of our grapes in the vineyard, so that they can express themselves freely in the bottle.

Ageing: Ruby results from the blend with other Port wines, aged for several years and kept in barrels or vats. The result is a young, fruity and vibrant Port with an average age of 3-4 years. From year to year, the mix will always have the same combination. At Quinta de La Rosa, Port wines are stored and bottled in the Douro and not in Vila Nova de Gaia, as is the case in most Casas, allowing a unique trait from grape picking to bottled wine.

Pairing: To be drunk now. It can be served as an aperitif or after dinner. Try it fresh.
