Donzelinho Branco is one of the most exótic and unusual grape varietals we have planted on the Alijó plateau. Its phisical characteristcs consist of a small cluster and small, round berries of green - yellowish colour. Donzelinho branco benefits from the cool climate and richer soil of the Alijó plateau to present a Douro profile quite different than usual. It is a great challenge to our winemaking team.
Grape Varieties: Donzelinho Branco
Tasting Notes: Donzelinho Branco presents a very exotic and unusual style, with a terpenic aromatic profile of floral notes and suggestions of rosemary. A fresh wine, in which, flavours combine with aromas, yet revealing good minerality and acidity.
Winemaking: 100% Donzelinho Branco. We harvest this variety in the beginning of September, when we believe the grapes at at a perfect stage in maturation. After a light press on our pneumatic press, we ferment the must on stainless steel tanks, at low temperature, followed by an ageing period of six months in the same vessel.
Food Pairing: Guacamole, Grilled Red Snapper, Açores Cheese, Ventresca with Dill. Best served at 8ºC – 10ºC. Drink now or cellar for 10 – 15 years.
