Drink Me Nat Cool Tinto 2022

Nat Cool is naturally “cool and funky”. It represents an innovative concept initiated by Niepoort, in which various producers came together to create light and easy-to-drink wines. In the Bairrada region we have produced the DrinkMe, the first Nat Cool, where we try to showcase a different and elegant side of the Baga grape variety. An incredibly light and accessible wine which just begs to be enjoyed. Welcome to the Nat Cool world!

Grape Varieties: Baga. Average Vine Age 40 to 100 Years.

Soil: Calcareous clay

Tasting Notes: Light and lively in colour, this wine reflects baga’s fun personality. On the nose it is fresh, floral, with notes of aromatic herbs and cherry fruit. On the palate, it is round yet light and crisp. It finishes with a lovely acidity, spicy, with a slight sweetness and astringency that makes it approachable and easy to love! Serve chilled - naturally cool!

Winemaking: In 2022, due to the extreme drought and heat, the grapes ripened very early, resulting in an early harvest. Harvesting began with the white wine grapes, on 22 August, and finished with the red varieties on 29 September. During the month of September, rain showers forced us to speed up the harvest in order to maintain the quality of the resulting wines. The NAT COOL 2022 stems from various old vineyard blocks. The wine was fermented in stainless steel for 5 weeks and left to mature and undergo malolactic fermentation in stainless steel until bottling. It was bottled unfiltered.

Ageing: 6 months in stainless steel tanks.

Gastronomy: Light and simple dishes as well as comfort food. Suitable for Vegans & Vegetarians.
