Grape Varieties: Castelão (40%), Touriga Nacional (30%) and Aragonez (30%).
Tasting Notes: Ruby color with brownish hints. Aroma of cherry compote type, vanilla, and with good evolution. Full-bodied, elegant, soft and velvety.
Vinification: The grapes are harvested manually, and the fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with gentle maceration of the masses after partial destemming. The fermentation process takes place slowly for 15 days, followed by a 6-month aging in new French oak barrels, followed by a further 18-month aging in used 300l French and American oak barrels. After bottling, it ages in the bottle for 2 years before being marketed. It is a classic and traditional wine, on the market since 1926, which is only produced in excellent years.
Gastronomy: Ideal to accompany cheeses, game, stewed meats and fatty fish. It should be served at a temperature of 16-18º. It can be consumed now or in the next 5 years.
Consumption: "Guard wine" that can be consumed today or in the next 10 years. Due to the long aging period, decanting is recommended, so that the wine can oxygenate and release its full potential.
