Location: Chaves
Soil: Schist origin, with medium clay contents and granite origin with sandy texture.
Climate: Temperate with continental characteristics.
Grape Varieties: Tinta-Roriz, Tinta-Barroca, Alicante-Bouschet and Touriga-Nacional.
Tasting Note: Color: Dark ruby. Aroma: Elegant and with good intensity. In evidence are the aromas reminiscent of ripe red fruits and forest. Palate: Dry and fresh in the attack. Good volume and structure harmonized by notes of red fruits, long and pleasant finish.
Winemaking: Hand picked grapes are destemmed and gently crushed in preparation for a cold soak prior to fermentation. Fermentation itself occurs under conditions of light temperature control and a number of rounds of gentle pumping over. After post-fermentation maceration, pressing and malolactic fermentation the wine ages in stainless steel tanks and a further 6 months in bottle prior to release.
Pairing: It goes well with strong cheeses, red meats and smoked meat. We suggest decanting the wine before serving. The wine should be served at a temperature between 16º-18º Celsius.
Ageing Ability: Until the end of 2030.
Winemaker: Rui Cunha, Sérgio Alves.
