Controlled Denomination of Origin Óbidos
Grape Varieties: Castelão (60%), Aragonez (20%), Touriga Nacional (20%).
Tasting Notes: Ruby color. Aromas of ripe red fruits, with notes of chocolate from its aging in wood. In the mouth it is full-bodied and very soft, with notes of spices.
Vinification: The grapes are hand-picked in a good state of ripeness. After destemming, they are slightly crushed and transferred to stainless steel fermentation vats. The must is fermented with temperature control (25-27ºC) for 15 days. 12 months of aging in new French oak barrels (60%) and used American oak (40%).
Gastronomy: This São Francisco is ideal to accompany simple dishes of meat and prepared vegetables. Its slight acidity gives it a freshness that also allows a very pleasant combination with fish dishes. Serve between 16º and 18ºC.
Consumption: Immediate or within 6 years.
